Shake Up Your Weight Training

Protein is the most important part of your diet. Without enough of it, your body won’t build muscle. Whether your goal is to increase muscle and get bigger and stronger, or lose weight and lose fat and get/stay lean you need to fuel your body. So after your session let one of the staff make you the perfect shake to replenish the building blocks for muscle. Flavours available: Strawberry, Chocolate & Vanilla.

Fresh Fruit & Veg, Getting your ‘5 a day’

Fruit and Vegetables help set you up for a healthier lifestyle. ‘5 a day’. How often have you heard this? Not easy unless you work it into your daily routine. Here are 5 great reasons to eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables A DAY:

  • They’re packed with vitamins and minerals.
  • They can help you to maintain a healthy weight.
  • They’re an excellent source of fibre and antioxidants.
  • They help reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and some cancers.
  • They taste delicious and there’s so much variety to choose from. Everyone loves corn on the cob! Buy a pack of mini ones, freeze them and cook them.

Tip : Try a banana to increase fuel 1 hour prior to your gym workout. Then a piece or two of our fresh fruit immediately after to replenish your muscles.

Indulge in Snack Time

Protein and carbohydrates are essential nutrients for the recovery of your body and mind. The meal or snacks consumed after training or exercise should contain a source of each, and be consumed immediately after training to rebuild muscle energy stores for your next workout. A snack such as Fruit, dried fruit/almonds and museli bars are great ‘after training fuel’ available at Gambaru Fitness reception.

Thirsty Work

Whenever you train or exercise, energy is used, water is lost and microscopic damage occurs to muscles. This is a natural occurance.

Drinking 500ml of a sports drink or water immediately after training or a game will help replace lost fluids and also replenish used energy stores. A sports drink containing a source of vitamin C, vitamin E or protein is useful to repair muscle damage.

If the body recovers fully after each session, the training that is undertaken will result in improvements in performance.

Drinks available at reception to assist your recovery include:, isotonic, lucozade, Harrogate Spa water.
